The day was sunny, but with a biting chill in the wind blowing through the woods where the nest is located.
Together with the guys from the Forestry Commission, Cathy Rose from the Chilterns Conservation Board decided which position the camera should be so as to provide the best images of the nest and the chicks
Andy Freeman, who assists with monitoring the Red Kites, and is an experienced tree climber, climbed up the tree to install the two cameras.

One camera concentrates on the actual nest itself, whilst camera number two will provide an overall view, including the branches surrounding the nest. This will, later in the season, enable viewers to see the chicks when they become more active, climbing on the branches.
The cameras will remain on until the chicks leave the nest, usually in July.
