"Red Kites Return" by S. Adams

The Red Kites of history are back with a zoom
Riding the skyways above hill and combe
Soaring and spreading their fingertip wings
As they keep a birds eye on the gardens and bins –
for food!

Now lazily spinning with forked rudder-tails
On thermals unfurling their elegant sails
In our hearts we believe while these big red birds fly
There's nothing on earth than can make our hopes die –
for good!
